A field trip to WUSTL’s Danforth Campus April 2 was the culminating activity for local high school students in the AP Prep Program, a WUSTL volunteer tutoring program sponsored by K-12 Connections. Ten undergraduate students regularly visited Gateway STEM High School during the spring semester. For two hours per week over six weeks, 35 Gateway students received tutoring in biology and English literature to help prepare them for advanced placement exams.
During the field trip, four WUSTL undergraduates served on a discussion panel, giving important advice ranging from tips on applying to college to how to manage time in college. The campus visit also included a tour of the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, where Kemper educators Allison Taylor and Allison Fricke led the students through explorations of STEM in art.
