It’s not enough to inspire teachers, you have to prepare them so they feel confident in teaching science! The Institute for School Partnership is Washington University’s signature strategic effort to improve teaching and learning within the K-12 community. We place a priority on working with underserved communities. Many of our programs are national models for teacher professional development and are supported by grants and private donations.
We work hard every day to transform science education for tens of thousands of St. Louis area students. We believe in preparing the whole teacher to teach the whole child. We do this through a myriad of programs and services that benefit from your support. They include offering teacher professional development, classroom materials and curricula, faculty and student involvement, and intensive partnerships with underserved St. Louis schools and districts. Our work has impact! Our efforts have boosted science learning and standardized test scores.
With the help of supporters, our programs impact more than 100,000 students in the St. Louis region annually. We are able to provide over 1,200 hours of professional development and coaching to 2,500 teachers and 400 administrators. We deliver over 9,000 mySci science kits to 220 schools across the region. We partner with 60 faulty, students and staff who commit 920 hours of community outreach. These are just a few of our successes which could not be accomplished without ongoing support from foundations, corporations and individuals.
We are committed to strengthening and broadening services for the region’s K-12 community, offering teacher professional development, classroom materials and curricula, faculty and student involvement, and intensive partnerships with underserved St. Louis schools and districts.

Hear From Our Supporters
“We’re happy to have been able to support ISP through the years and proud to continue the existing relationship. In particular, STEM TQ is an outstanding program that equips teachers with the necessary tools to help students succeed in class and go on to have successful careers. By reaching a large number of teachers we can impact an even larger number of students, which goes a long way in preparing the next generation of scientists, STEM leaders and even future professionals in other career fields.”Al Mitchell, President, Monsanto Fund
